Lonsite is committed to promoting and supporting the mental health and wellbeing of its employees and agency workers.
We recognise that good mental health and wellbeing are essential to personal welfare, safe working, and sustainable business performance, particularly within the construction environment.
Lonsite is committed to fostering a working culture where mental health is openly discussed, stigma is challenged, and individuals feel supported to raise concerns without fear of disadvantage or discrimination.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All Lonsite employees
- All agency workers supplied or engaged by Lonsite
- Office-based and site-based activities
3. Principles
Lonsite is committed to:
- Promoting positive mental health and wellbeing
- Treating mental health with the same importance as physical health
- Encouraging early reporting and open conversation
- Supporting individuals experiencing mental health difficulties
- Preventing discrimination, bullying, or harassment related to mental health
- Aligning with client and Principal Contractor wellbeing arrangements
4. Roles and Responsibilities
Managing Director
Has overall responsibility for this policy and its implementation.
Lonsite Management
Will, so far as reasonably practicable:
- Promote awareness of mental health and wellbeing
- Encourage a supportive and inclusive culture
- Respond appropriately to wellbeing concerns raised
- Signpost individuals to appropriate sources of support
- Consider reasonable adjustments where appropriate
- Treat all wellbeing matters confidentially and sensitively
Employees and Agency Workers
Are encouraged to:
- Take reasonable care of their own mental health and wellbeing
- Seek support at an early stage where concerns arise
- Raise issues confidentially with management where wellbeing may affect safety or work performance
- Support colleagues and contribute to a respectful working environment
5. Support and Signposting
Lonsite recognises that it is not a healthcare provider but will support individuals by signposting to appropriate resources, including:
- Samaritans – 116 123 (24/7)
- NHS 111 for urgent mental health advice
- 999 in an emergency or where someone is at immediate risk
Where appropriate, Lonsite will also support access to client or industry wellbeing initiatives.
6. Confidentiality and Protection from Detriment
All wellbeing concerns will be handled confidentially.
No employee or agency worker will be subject to disadvantage, discrimination, or detriment for raising genuine mental health or wellbeing concerns or for seeking support.
7. Interface with Health & Safety
Lonsite recognises that mental health and wellbeing can impact safety at work.
Where wellbeing concerns may affect fitness for work or safety, Lonsite will take a proportionate and supportive approach, working with the individual and, where necessary, the Client or Principal Contractor.
8. Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner where required by changes in legislation, guidance, or business activities.
