Lonsite is committed to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of its employees, agency workers, candidates, clients, and any other persons who may be affected by its business activities.
As a labour-only construction recruitment agency and provider of labour subcontract packages Lonsite recognises that the majority of operational health and safety controls are managed by Clients and Principal Contractors. Lonsite is nevertheless committed to ensuring that all personnel supplied are competent, suitably trained, and capable of working safely within construction environments.
This policy should be read in conjunction with the Lonsite Health and Safety Management System, which sets out the organisation and arrangements for implementing these principles.
1. Legal Framework (2026)
This policy supports compliance with, but is not limited to:
- Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
- Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
- Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
- Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 2022
- Relevant HSE guidance and Approved Codes of Practice
- Client and Principal Contractor health and safety requirements
2. Statement of Intent
Lonsite recognises and accepts its statutory and moral responsibility to do all that is reasonably practicable to prevent injury, ill health, and unsafe practices arising from its labour supply and subcontract package activities.
The Company is committed to:
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture
- Supporting clients and Tier 1 contractors in delivering safe projects
- Ensuring workers understand their responsibilities under site rules
- Continual improvement in health and safety performance
3. Roles and Responsibilities
Managing Director
The Managing Director has overall responsibility for health and safety within Lonsite and for ensuring this policy is implemented effectively.
Lonsite Management
Management will:
- Ensure workers are suitably competent, trained, and qualified
- Verify certification, medical fitness, and experience where required
- Provide health and safety information relevant to labour supply
- Liaise with clients and Principal Contractors on safety matters
- Act on reports of unsafe behaviour, incidents, or concerns
- Remove workers from assignments where safety is compromised
Workers Supplied by Lonsite
All workers are required to:
- Take reasonable care of their own health and safety
- Cooperate with clients and Principal Contractors
- Follow site rules, RAMS, inductions, and instructions
- Use PPE correctly as required by the site
- Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe behaviour immediately
4. Training, Competence & Induction
Lonsite will ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, that personnel supplied:
- Are competent for the roles they are assigned
- Hold appropriate training, qualifications, or certification
- Receive site-specific inductions prior to commencing work
- Are aware of their health and safety responsibilities
5. Risk Management and Safe Systems of Work
Risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work are normally developed and controlled by the Client or Principal Contractor.
Lonsite will ensure that workers are informed of and comply with relevant site RAMS and control measures.
Where concerns are raised regarding unsafe systems of work, Lonsite will escalate these concerns appropriately and support corrective action.
6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Lonsite will ensure that workers understand PPE requirements for their role.
The provision of PPE will be in line with contractual arrangements and site requirements. Workers must use PPE correctly and report defects or shortages.
7. Behavioural Safety and Intervention
Lonsite promotes safe behaviours and expects workers to act responsibly at all times.
Unsafe acts, near misses, or breaches of site rules will be investigated and may result in retraining, removal from site, or termination of engagement.
8. Monitoring, Incidents & Continuous Improvement
Lonsite will:
- Cooperate with clients in incident investigations where labour supplied is involved
- Monitor health and safety performance through feedback and incident data
- Review this policy annually or following significant change or incident
- Seek continual improvement in health and safety management
9. Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner where required by changes in legislation, business activities, or client requirements.
