This week is alcohol awareness week, and the focus is on alcohol and relationships, and specifically how drinking can impact those around us.

Throughout the pandemic, more people took to drinking indoors for various reasons which obviously impacted relationships with friends, and family alike and in some instances, not for the best. By taking control of our drinking, we can create happier and healthier relationships, in addition to improving our own mental health and wellbeing.

It is well documented that alcohol is a depressant, and thus can have a hugely detrimental effect on mental wellbeing, so be conscious of your drinking, and reduce it wherever necessary, for your sake, and that of those around you.

There are people who can help you if you fear you are suffering from alcohol abuse:

Alcoholics anonymous - 0800 9177 650 or www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk/
Drinkline - 0300 123 1110 or www.drinkaware.co.uk/advice/alcohol-support-services

World Mental Health Day comes this Sunday, and it is crucial that we raise awareness with issues surrounding Mental Health. This is an annual event which promotes positive mental health and campaigns against social stigma.

Two construction workers take their own lives every working day in the UK, and it is imperative that this number is reduced. Stress, depression and anxiety also account for a fifth of all work-related illnesses, highlighting the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing. If you are ever feeling down, do not be afraid to speak up, let someone know and share that burden, we are all here to support one another. A member of our team here at Lonsite is always available to talk anonymously if you ever feel vulnerable or have the need to talk.

If you are ever concerned about your mental health, here are some helplines:
Construction Industry Helpline – 03456051956 (UK) or 01800939122 (ROI)
Mind – 03001233393 or info@mind.org.uk

Join us in celebrating Black History Month! From now until the end of the month, we will be examining some of the greatest achievements from black inventors and entrepreneurs in a reflection of how we can improve ourselves. The BAME (Black, Asian and minority ethnic) community comprises merely 4% of the construction industry. Diversity is one of humanity’s greatest strengths, and at Lonsite we aim to increase this percentage at any given opportunity, and what better opportunity to highlight this than Black History Month. ...
